Of course, she loves his money and that's why she doesn't leave him for the much younger office hunk Marsh. Despite the secret affair, Marsh respects his boss who gives him promotions and praises. Nevertheless, he would elope with his boss' wife but she wouldn't hear of it. Love is one thing but a return to a life without luxuries is another. At the office, Ralph Nevins' secretary, young Kathy Stevens, secretly loves office beau Marsh but she is too shy to reveal her feelings. She would later play a crucial role in a murder investigation involving the main characters. During one of their secret interludes under the moon, Marsh and Pauline Nevins witness a discussion between three shady men who are planning to steal precious jewels from a nearby mansion belonging to a certain Dr. Sam Lynbury and his wife. The robbery is planned for the following week when the mansion residents are away on vacation. Overhearing the thieves' plan, Pauline and Marsh figure a plan of their own. After the robbery, Marsh could ambush the thieves at gunpoint and rob them of their loot. This loot would provide Marsh and Pauline with enough money to elope far away from Pauline's husband. Marsh is a bit reluctant to commit a crime, at first. But Pauline persuades him to do it. However, plans have a tendency to go awry. To make matters worse, Pauline's husband starts being jealous and suspicious of her secretive leisurely activities. He decides to tail his wife to see if she's cheating on him. As a precaution, he takes his .22 caliber pistol with him. By coincidence, the night he chooses to tail her is the same night when she and Marsh meet at Dr. Lynbury's mansion to rob the thieves who, after breaking the safe, have the jewels.—nufs68

He uses it as an opportunity to take over the world. So Carolinus builds a team of three to conduct a quest for wresting the red crown from Ommadon. Peter Dickenson, a young Boston writer, is called back through time to lead the team. He is the first descendant of the dragon master Peter the Great who is conversant in both science and magic. Joining him are the dragon Gorbash and knight errant, Sir Orin Neville-Smythe. Ommadon sends his dragon Bryagh to kidnap Peter. Carolinus quickly casts a defensive spell that accidentally mergers Peter with the dragon Gorbash. This means a new third questor is needed. Carolinus names his old dragon Smrgol to the position. A series of challenges awaits the questors. In the end they are aided by the Shield of Saturn from Solaris and the Golden Flute of Healing Sleep from Lo Tae Zhao. Carolinus's daughter, Melisande, and Peter are spiritually and mentally linked during the adventure. Enroute, the questing team gains assistance from Aragh the wolf, Danielle the archer and Giles, a tree elf. They eventually pass through Gormley's Keep into the Realm of Red Death.—Garon Smith

There is money missing from a bank job, an attractive model, an insurance investigator, and two extremely dangerous thugs. James Vanning (Aldo Ray) portrays an innocent man on the run, being pursued by the criminals who stupidly misplaced their take from the crime and think he has it or knows where it is hidden. Add model Marie Gardner (Anne Bancroft) who crossed paths with nice guy Vanning, while he is on the run. This all adds up to a thriller wherein the viewer is drawn into the story and becomes part of the drama. When Marie says "things that really happen are difficult to explain" it captures the theme of this film. A nice girl helps a nice guy, who is innocent and is drawn into the drama. As tension mounts she says: "I am always meeting the wrong man, and it leads to doomed relationships." Marie inadvertently leads Vanning into the hands of the villains. However, she is a pseudo-femme fatale, innocently involved in the intrigue and, like the viewer, is gradually drawn into the plot. Beside one of the more chilling murder scenes for that era, the film has a three part flashback, which takes the viewer from a cityscape and menacing oil wells to the snow-covered plains of Wyoming and back to the streets of Hollywood. The interplay of high contrast images makes it worth seeing, but the story keeps the viewer engaged.—Noir-Fan-en-Suisse

Brent is an American astronaut, part of a team sent to locate missing fellow American astronaut George Taylor. What Brent initially does not know, much like Taylor didn't when he landed here before Brent, is that he has landed back on Earth in the future, in the vicinity of what was New York City. Brent finds evidence that Taylor has been on the planet. In Brent's search for Taylor, he finds that the planet is run by a barbaric race of English-speaking apes, whose mission is in part to annihilate the human race. Brent eventually locates some of those humans, who communicate telepathically and who live underground to prevent detection by the apes. These humans, who are in their own way as barbaric as the apes, want in turn to protect their species. Brent must figure out a way to save himself under the circumstances, which may be more difficult to accomplish in the battle between the dominant species on this planet.—Huggo
