Jamie Spellman owns and operates Canvas Creations, a youth art school, in Seattle, she encouraging her students to transfer what is in their hearts to the canvas. She started the school one year ago following a devastating break-up, and it was only supposed to be a side business while she focused on painting, but it has become her main business, she not having painted at all this year, or dated for that matter, and she is expanding the school with a second location, to be franchised, with the help of her retired father, David Spellman, doing much of the contract work, he seemingly as excited if not more in it preoccupying his time during retirement. Every year, Jamie has entered the Cherry Blossom Art Festival, the winner who receives a one person show in Paris, but has decided not to this year as she has not painted anything as a submission, and as she has always walked away empty handed. In feeling Jamie is straying from what she really wants in life, Ava Hughes, her longtime best friend, encourages Jamie to do what she herself did which believes got her own life to the point of getting everything she wanted, from a great fiancé in Tom to her dream job: create a vision board. From the vision board she creates, Jamie, following what she tells her students, pours her heart out onto a canvas, it ending up being one of her best works. It also shows her that she not only wants to enter the Art Festival again this year, but that she also wants romantic love back in her life. While she has to come up with a submission to impress the Festival organizer Renee, who finds her existing canvasses good but not heartfelt, Jamie also has to work on the second outlet of Canvas Creations, and really wants to discover the identity of the mystery man she has painted on that vision board translation. All indication is that man could be Michael Herman, one of her new adult students who ticks off all the proverbial boxes. However, she is surprised is that she is starting to have feelings for Ava's brother, Max Hughes, a landscape architect who has recently returned to town to start work as a groundskeeper at the local conservatory where the Art Festival is being held this year. The surprise for Jamie is that Max has always been a thorn in her side since they were children, he, from what she has heard from Ava, leading a relatively commitment-free life in moving from one thing to another when life gets too tough, Jamie afraid that while he seems to be showing interest in her in return that he may run away if things get too real.—Huggo

Seattle-based Kendall Turner is an author writing about the science of love, she not believing that love is a matter of chance, but rather something that can be achieved only by following scientific principles. She is in stark contrast to the anonymous writer going by the pseudonym Doctor Love Struck, whose column appears exclusively in Pacific Sounder magazine, that author who espouses the notion of romance and the "grand gesture" leading to love. In reality, Nathan Hart, a staff writer at Pacific Sounder, temporarily took over the column solely in showing his editor, Jim Perkins, that he is a team player in wanting the Features Editor position when it opens up. However, he does believe what he writes. Because of Nathan's position as Doctor Love Struck, Jim assigns him to write a profile of Kendall as a feature article. While he will not and cannot divulge that he is Doctor Love Struck to Kendall, Nathan goes into the assignment questioning her approach to love. Conversely, Kendall, who is having trouble coming up with a concept for her next book, decides, after meeting Nathan, for that book to test her scientific theories with herself as the the subject and him as the potential mate in there being an attraction, but in knowing that the two of them aren't obvious on paper. The question then becomes whether these secrets, when they ultimately come to light, will affect not only what happens with each professionally, but with their relationship, especially if they do fall for each other before knowing the secrets.

Jenna Savern, having grown up on her grandparents' vineyard outside of Carrington in California wine country, learned the love of wine from her grandmother, Ellie Savern, Jenna's parents, Mike and Lynn Savern, who now own and operate Savern Vineyards. Held only once a year, Jenna will be taking the Master Sommeliers exam in a month's time, she having not passed in her first two attempts in not trusting her tasting instincts when in doubt. She not only wants desperately to pass in there only being less than two hundred Master Sommeliers in the world, but wants to advance females in the industry in only a small percentage of those Master Sommeliers being women. Her goal is to work as the head sommelier at Alluvial in San Francisco, it the three star Michelin restaurant owned by her boyfriend of three years, Aidan Parker, who is a Master Sommelier in his own right and who is all about the awards and accolades when it comes to the restaurant, the wines they serve and his staff. Despite the want to focus on studying for the exam, Jenna heads home to Carrington for a couple of weeks at her father's request in he planning a surprise fortieth anniversary party for Lynn. It is the first time that Jenna meets native Argentine Marcelo Castillo, Mike and Lynn's relatively new head vineyard manager and wine maker, who has taken the operation in a direction with which Jenna does not agree: all natural, which means organic. Unlike Aidan, Marcelo does not believe that awards necessarily equate to good wines, and believes Jenna should get her head out of the books and truly experience the wines more to appreciate them. While Jenna and Marcelo initially but heads in Jenna's fear that Marcelo's methods may run the vineyard out of business, they may actually open each other's eyes to what they really want in life.

Hosted by ex-NFLer-turned-reality-dating-TV-show-star Brian Bright and traditional broadcaster Melissa Merry, Today with Bright and Merry airing on NYFamilyTV is the #1 morning talk show in the country. Their smiles to each other in front of the cameras mask animosity behind the scenes in their differing working styles, each believing his/her way makes the show the success that it is: Mel is always prepared, while Brian likes to wing it resulting in a more familiar, spontaneous product. Mel also believes that Brian has led a charmed life without having to work for it like she has. There are two fundamental changes to the show this Christmas season, a season Brian admits is something he personally doesn't celebrate; it's Mel's favorite time of year in partaking of family traditions. Their annual one-off show in a small town highlighting the town's Christmas traditions, this year in the town of Mistletoe, has been expanded to a week culminating with a primetime special on Christmas Eve. These changes were made in light of the announcement to both Brian and Mel at the same time of the second change, something that Mel didn't know was in the works: that the network has granted Brian's request to have his contract terminated--the request probably in no longer wanting to work with Mel--and they will announce Brian's departure on his last appearance: the Christmas Eve special. Mel thought she would be excited at this news, but she admits to herself that she's afraid of a drop in ratings with her new co-host. As they are forced to spend concentrated time together in their week in Mistletoe, as they learn about why the other is the way he/she is including Brian's aversion to Christmas, and as they partake in Mistletoe's Christmas traditions together, they change the way they view each other, both professionally and personally. Then Brian's actress girlfriend Christy arrives in Mistletoe with unexpected news about his possible future job--and the town's handsome deputy-mayor James seems to be showing romantic interest in Mel. and with what looks like Beyond if they are able to open up to the other about their new feelings, they, in potentially staying together as a professional team in addition to embarking on a personal relationship, have the obstacles of Christy, Brian's actress girlfriend who arrives in Mistletoe both unexpectedly and with unexpected news about his possible new job--and the town's handsome deputy-major James seems to be interested in Mel. —Huggo
