The film opens as Bobby (Jacob Elordi) drives a severely wounded, possibly dead man, through the desert while nonchalantly discussing the Hoover Dam. Bobby pulls off the road and dumps the body from his car before driving off.A few weeks earlier, in the Summer of 1964, Jim's (Zachary Quinto) car breaks down while driving east on Route 66 through Death Valley, California. He brings it to a mechanic shop run Willard (Christopher Guyton) who is able to keep the car running for a steep price and off-handily mentions Jim's cargo. Before leaving the shop, Jim calls his wife and business partner Esther and suggests he take a detour to visit someone named Saul, but Esther chastises Jim, pointing out she put a lot of work into forming this plan to make-up for Jim's lack of work.While talking with Esther, Jim notices Bobby attempting to hitch a ride to Michigan and then antagonizing Willard. Jim offers Bobby a ride who accepts, telling Jim his car broke back in Death Valley.Bobby mentions that he is heading to Michigan to attend a homecoming with his girl, while Jim admits he picked up Bobby because he is running behind on a trip to Chicago and may need someone to help with driving to make up some time. While on the road, Jim and Bobby small talk but the conversation turns tense when Bobby reacts negatively to Jim asking about his discharge from the Air Force.The tension is broken when Bobby hears a noise coming from the back of the car. Jim pulls over and reveals he is transporting a chimpanzee named Spanky to Chicago. At first Bobby is put-off by Spanky, but after recognizing him as a celebrity chimp that frequents the talk shows, Bobby decides to continue with Jim.The three stay at a motel in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the night. Jim offers to get a room with two beds but Bobby plans to sleep in the car. Bobby offers to feed Spanky, but Jim turns down the offer due to safety concerns, much to the annoyance of Bobby.The proprietor of the motel, Hank (Troy Evans), warns Jim about the danger in the area and attempts to sell him a knife, though Jim only asks for a room. While heading to his room, Jim is called over to a different car by Bobby who then holds him at gunpoint. Jim pleads for his life and Bobby spares him, but not before beating him and stealing his wallet ring. He warns that if Jim calls the police Bobby will kill Spanky.In flashback, Bobby murders an Air Force pilot. Jim once again calls Esther and suggests going to Saul's but he does not mention Bobby or the stickup. The next morning Jim sees the car still there and checks on Spanky who seems to be doing well. Jim attempts to talk to Bobby about the previous night but a police cruise pulls up, frightening Bobby. Jim denies calling the police but Bobby forces him into the car and the two drive off.On the road again Jim offers to take Bobby all the way to Chicago and ensure he reaches his destination of South Haven, Michigan on time in exchange for his wallet and keys, though Bobby counteroffers with the possibility of him shooting Jim in the head and stealing everything.Arriving in Amarillo, Texas, Jim pulls off the road as he previously mentioned to Bobby. The two pull up to a trailer in the middle of the desert that is being used as residence and place of worship run by Saul, who turns out to be a Catholic priest. Saul (Patrick J. Adams) mocks Jim for being in the show business and being an ape trainer, believing that they both turned Jim away from Christ. Meanwhile, Jim questions Saul's effectiveness as a preacher in the middle of the desert, though Saul still offers Jim a drink.Jim brings up a previous loan he made to Saul, who is also Jim's brother-in-law, which Saul has not paid back in over two years. Jim is desperate for money after the network canceled their contract with Spanky and they have struggled to find other jobs. Spanky had recently developed health issues and this has driven Jim into debt. Saul belittles Jim who attempts to return the insults but Saul gets the best of Jim. Jim threatens to have Bobby take care of Saul but when Jim approaches Bobby with the idea, he instead chokes Jim and forces into the back of the car and into the cage with Spanky. However, after Saul makes another sarcastic comment towards Bobby. Jim hears a gunshot from the back of the car.Bobby pulls off to the side of the road and confronts Jim about feeling used and tries to force Jim to admit that he only picked up Bobby to use as muscle with Saul, though Jim denies it.In another flashback, we see Bobby taunt another captive, revealing to him that his father was a horribly abusive man. After Bobby finds a gun on the man, he accuses him of being a liar and shoots him in the head.Jim is now bound and gagged in the front seat and Bobby tells him that awhile back he became tired of people lying to him and decided if he ever catches someone lying to him he would kill them. Bobby warns Jim that if he finds out he is lying again or tries anything, he will kill him.Arriving in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bobby decides he wants to go dancing. He and Jim get ready together and Jim lends Bobby some clothes to fit in better. The two arrive at Rodney's, the dance hall, but Bobby becomes frustrating when he finds out that the ballroom program has been changed to a rock n' roll program, lowing the chances that he'll be able to meet a girl and form a relationship. Jim encourages Bobby to just go talk to a girl and uses Spanky to break the ice with a group of girls for Bobby.The girls, Whitney (Alexandra Doke) and Amy (Nicolette Doke), are impressed with Spanky and Bobby attempts to flirt with them. Jim is horrified to learn that Bobby plans to sleep with the girls, ashamed to be part of Bobby's scheme. Bobby takes the girls back to a motel and begins flirting again. He begins to ask them how a man could win back the heart of an ex who he was still in love with but becomes volatile after he losing in gin.Meanwhile, Jim returns calls on potential jobs for Spanky, getting turned down on each one. Jim then calls Esther who reveals that Saul was not killed by Bobby and he told Esther everything. Jim ends the call after hearing screaming from Bobby's room. He rushes in and the two girls accuse Bobby of grabbing them and threatens to tell the authorities. Jim covers for Bobby telling the girls that Bobby is an up and coming actor who was in character for a role. He is able to calm the girls who eventually fall asleep in one of the beds.Jim and Bobby stay up and Bobby reveals that he wanted to talk to the girls about his ex, Bonnie, who left him and how he can win. her back. Jim suggests that Bobby should stop being so forceful, though Bobby insists he is a gentle person as he sneaks over to the asleep girls and begins to kiss one's bare legs and hike up her dress.The next morning Jim is severely hungover after staying up all night with a bottle of whiskey watching Bobby. While stopped at a convenience store in Missouri, Bobby has Jim steal medicine that he needs to calm his nerves, and Jim is surprised to find the act of stealing exciting. Bobby later notices an article about a slaying at a gas station and becomes nervous.While at a diner in St. Louis, Bobby tells Jim that he his hoping to make it to Michigan for Bonnie's birthday party, bringing her souvenirs from all the places he's now traveled to in hopes that it will show his potential to her. Jim encourages Bobby, telling him that he can do anything. Bobby reciprocates Jim's kindness by giving him back his wallet and ring. Jim tries to get Bobby to give him the gun as well, but stops after Bobby does not seem to like the idea. Jim leaves the diner but Bobby attacks the cook who was staring at him, stabbing him in the hand. The two flee into Illinois.Spanky has not eaten in three days so Jim forces Bobby to pullover so they can feed him. Bobby instructs and trains Bobby on how to feed Spanky. The two continue to bond as they drive through Illinois. Bobby decides to take a nap and Jim notices the gun setting on the dashboard.Jim and Bobby arrive in Chicago and prepare to go their separate ways but Bobby notices his gun is missing. He confronts Jim over it who admits that he threw the gun away while Bobby was sleeping. He tells Bobby that he doesn't need the gun and will be better off without it. Bobby attacks Jim and nearly chokes him to death before Jim is able to unlock Spanky's cage and Spanky pushes the door into Bobby knocking him down. While Bobby is on the ground, Jim returns his gun to him which he had not thrown out, reasoning that he tried to help Bobby. Bobby takes the gun and walks away.That night Jim decides to go find Bobby, eventually locating him walking and attempting to hitch a ride. Bobby threatens that he could kill Jim and Spanky, but Jim calls his bluff not believing he would after all they've been through. He lets Spanky out so Bobby can have a proper goodbye. Bobby gives Jim some money for food and lodging, while Jim gives Bobby the sweater he let him use in Tulsa. The two say goodbye and Bobby walks off.Jim arrives at a large estate with Spanky that is filled with various taxidermist animals on display. The mansion is owned by Suma (Ananyaa Shah) who criticizes Jim for using Spanky for performances but also refuses to call Spanky by his name. Jim raises the price of Spanky but Suma agrees to pay the raised price, planning to set Spanky free. However, when Suma attempts to grab Spanky he attacks her and Jim flees with her.Over a narration it is revealed that Bobby never made it to South Haven. He quickly returned to his previous ways and was eventually arrested after bragging about his murders. Jim and Spanky were able to find some success, eventually retiring from the show business industry.Bobby spent the rest of his life in prison.

The movie begins with Peter Snowden, a man in his late 30's, recording a video of his confession to murdering his mother. He explains that she was unwilling to allow him, an equal contributor to their household expenses to have the house to himself for the purpose of entertaining an old military buddy. He goes on to explain that he feels no guilt for the crime but does regret the amount of blood. Peter appears to be a type of YouTube vlogger as he admonishes himself that he can not upload this video and shuts the camera off.The next day Peter sits at the kitchen table singing happily and enjoying a bowl of what appears to be fruit loops. And as he heads off to work he seems to forget for a moment that the previous night he murdered his mother because he calls to her closed bedroom door to let her know he's leaving. His face registers the new reality.Peter returns from work venting about his day but reassures himself that no one will ruin his good mood because he is about to prepare a great meal because he deserves it. For the second time in the film we notice that Peter sings songs to himself that are more suited to the 60s or 70s and are no longer current hits. And later his wardrobe will validate that he is stuck in another time period. Peter sits down to enjoy his meal but appears to be lonely as he sits at the dinner table. The next scene is Peter sitting in front of the tv attempting to watch something but realizing he needs his glasses. As he checks his pockets and the cushions on the couch his facial expression lets us know he remembers where they are and that he dreads going to retrieve them. He quickly goes into his mother's room and comes out with glasses covered in his mother's blood.The next scene introduces us to Edward. Peter practices calling Edward several times inviting him over for the dinner he was asking his mother to allow him which led to her murder. After getting the courage to actually dial the number he reaches Edward's wife Gloria. He makes small talk asking about the children and then asks to speak with Edward. After being told he was unavailable he leaves a message and begins recording for his online audience letting them know he has no expectation that she will give Edward the message. He decides that Edward will come to dinner on Friday even though they have not spoken. And even begins contemplating a menu.The next day the doorbell wakes Peter and a package is left at the door. It is a makeup mirror his mother obviously ordered before she died. The mirror seems to represent her throughout the remainder of the movie. It resides on the kitchen table where his mother may have sat during their morning meals. And he speaks to it often as if it were her. He receives a call from his sister Vickie and we begin conversations with the outside world where he lies and deceives others about the whereabouts of his mother. He tells her that his mother is out and complains about the purchase of the mirror.Peter, drinking and smoking, relishing in the good fortune of having the house to himself for the very first time begins a tirade of phone calls to Edward's answering machine. He shares how much he misses him and goes from pleading for a return call to cursing his wife Gloria for standing in the way of his friendship with Edward.The next morning the scent of rotting flesh coming from underneath his mother's door begins to become unbearable and Peter stuffs a towel in the crack. Goes off to work and returns with an iPhone and a bluetooth headset. That evening he retrieves the mail and notices a letter to his mother. After preparing a cup of tea and telling the mirror, or maybe mother to hold on, he opens the letter and reads it. Its from an old friend from Mobile, AL that lets Lillian, his mother know about the goings on in Mobile and responds to concerns she and her husband have about the last letter from Lillian. They pray Peter will meet a Christian woman to marry. And that Lillian should not love Peter more than God and allow him to do anything against God's will. The letter is so upsetting to Peter that he types a response from his mother to her friend Charlene Carruthers. The letter tells what a good son he is. That he takes excellent care of his mother and that he had his friend Edward over for a wonderful dinner for the three of them.Peter decides to use his new iPhone to make another attempt to reach Edward and is finally successful. His joy is palpable when he turns his face to the wall and tells Edward how badly he's missed him. He explains that he's called for days and that Gloria has been preventing his calls from being received. He shares the news that his mother has "moved away" and that he wants him to come to dinner to celebrate. Miraculously Edward is available the same day he told his online viewers, Friday.Now Peter has to prepare the house for his dinner guest and first things first, mother must be removed from the house. He wraps her in his grandmother's quilt, caresses her hand for the last time and drags her from the room. As he leaves we see a lock on the door as if Lillian had been afraid of Peter and locked her door to keep him out. He puts her in the trunk of the car along with a shovel and drives away presumably to bury her. The next day he calls his sister Vickie on his new phone and after explaining to her that their mother knows about the phone and that they are not paupers who can not afford it, he shares the good news that he and his mother are redecorating the house. We learn that their father left them 30 years ago and that Peter is not concerned about the costs of the work as it will just be billed to his master card. Peter vents to mother aka the mirror about his frustration with all the work he will have to do on the house and that this could have been done 10 years ago with the money from some settlement. A call from Mrs Carruthers from Mobile interrupts his lunch. And again he lies about his mother's whereabouts.Peter tells his online viewers about his exciting dinner plans, possible menu items and thanks them for their comments. Then he introduces them in a later video to the tropical fish he bough for Edward to make his home a sanctuary for him. Adam and Eve are their names and Adam, the fish has just left his wife. We assume Adam and Eve the fish are Peter and Edward and that Edward will leave his wife and family to be with Peter. Peter goes through the house the next day looking for the espresso machine. He explains to his viewers that he and Edward love an after dinner espresso and explodes over his mother having hidden it from him out of spite. After unsuccessfully purchasing a new one over the phone because he has charged his master card to the limit and can not get approved for an increase. He finally locates the machine in the attic.Sitting outside on the patio Peter finally shares with his viewers the story of meeting Edward. We find out that he was in the military with Edward. He explains that the military was too difficult for him which seems to mean he was discharged. That coupled with the murder and his medications leads the audience to a mental defect that may have contributed to his leaving the military. Peter eludes to a misunderstanding he and Edward had that they need to resolve, not sure if this was a lover's quarrel or unrequited love.The next day Peter is painting the dining room and explaining to his sister Vickie why their mother does not want to talk to her anymore. He attempts to convince her to send him money for an airline ticket so they can send their mother to Mobile and visit Mrs Carruthers. Later that day Mrs Beasley from church calls to check on Lillian because she missed bridge at church. Peter explains she has been ill and rushes off the phone when the eggs he's cooking begin burning on the stove. Peter ends his night with prayer.The next day, the BIG DAY, we see Peter with a new look. His hair is texturized like the gentleman wore in the 60's and 70's reinforcing that he is out of date with his look. He begins singing around the house as he cooks, cleans and works out. He has another discussion with Vickie reaffirming that their mother wants nothing to do with her. He makes some final touches around the house and then begins getting ready. We see from his wardrobe that he hasn't been shopping in decades and finally decides on what looks like a suit he wore to prom. He walks down the hall looking cleanly dressed and quite dapper in a burgundy suit with white shirt and matching tie. And begins to wait for his guest.After being 45 minutes or so late and updating his online viewers that he may have given him the wrong directions he decides to call Edward and check on him. Gloria answers the phone so he pretends to be a Mr Jones calling for business reasons. When she refuses to allow him to speak with Edward he begins to unravel, threatening her that he will not allow her to ruin what he has sacrificed so much for. And we see what may have happened when he murdered his mother. He takes a baseball bat and trashes the dining room, bashing a blue female statue until it is literally in pieces. Broken and emotionally drained he explains to Eve the fish that he now knows what must be done. And that he and Edward will be together, either in this world or the next.Peter is awakened the next morning by the phone, his sister Vickie tells him that a murder has been reported on the news. He turns the tv on and hears that an African American female's body has been found and it is being considered a homicide. He tells her he must call her back and washes his face. His day is filled with multiple calls from Mrs Carruthers, Mrs Beasley, Pastor Barrons all asking about Lillian's whereabouts. He provides each with a different story or lie reassuring them that she is fine and visiting friends in Mobile AL. He later calls Gloria to apologize for his erratic behavior and violent threats the night before and announces he will be moving. He gets a suitcase and begins packing for a trip. He shares with his viewers that he and Edward are going on a trip west. They will live alone on a house in the country going to town for groceries in cowboy hats and boots. He is interrupted by a call from Edward.He excitedly shares his plans for the two of them to run off together and finally be a couple. When Edward tells him something that devastates Peter. He attempts to call Edward back but goes straight to voicemail. We assume Edward tells Peter that they can not be together and that he no longer wants to hear from him. Peter's disappointment is overwhelming. He retrieves his packed suitcase from the trunk of his car, putting his clothes back in the closet and toiletries back in the bathroom. He cleans up the mess from his tantrum the night before, the wasted marinade and the contents of the refrigerator. Then sits to type a letter of apology and suicide to Edward. Peter retrieves a shoebox filled with returned letters written to Edward by Peter returned unopened. He gets all the medications from the bathroom and washes them down with a glass of brown liquor, then goes out to the car where he has taped a hose to the tailpipe and turns on the engine for the car to fill with gas. Unable to keep the pills down he throws them up and appears to decide not to commit suicide after all and turns the engine off.He goes inside, showers and goes to bed. The next morning Robert Beasley from church comes by the house, or does he? Peter looks out the peephole of the door and the viewer sees no one there. There appears to be the shadow of a shoulder and it looks as if someone tries to break into the back door of the house but when Peter looks out the window to the front of the house there is no one there and no vehicle in the driveway. Leaving the viewer to question if there was anyone at the door at all. Peter then sits at the table to eat his breakfast but after seeing himself in the mirror, the mirror that also appears to be Lillian, he closes it and returns mother to her bedroom. As if saying goodbye. He returns to his viewers now bald and tells them about his brother Bobby's death. The camera pans to a memorial plaque dating Bobby's life from '62 to '81. Since Peter was only 6 in '81 it dawns on the viewer that the clothes Peter wears throughout the film must be those of his brother Bobby. He's been wearing Bobby's clothes throughout the film. Meeting Edward 18 years ago and knowing sincerely that he and his mother would be great friends and reconciling himself to the fact that he has now lost them both.Peter receives one last call from Vickie where he seems to confess that his mother is dead. He tells Vickie that their mother "loved" her and gives her permission to contact the police now. He dresses in a button-down shirt, sweater and gets a shotgun from the cabinet outside. Makes his final recording to his viewers and announces that the police are inside the house and coming down the hall. He thanks his viewers for their comments and offers words of wisdom and advise to hug your children. He seems to resign himself to being killed by the police for appearing to be armed and dangerous inspite of the gun being unloaded. Then quotes a verse from Revelations: "He who testifies to the things says yes I am coming soon. Amen." Then shuts the camera off and waits for the police to enter the bedroom.

Many of these experiments were conducted to make people kill without leaving a trace of evidence.It is Christmastime in Montréal. Montréal police detective Kellen O'Reilly is on his way to meet his ex-wife for coffee at a diner atop Olympic Stadium and hand over his divorce papers. At the same time, mob hitman Rudy Myers and his gang, which consists of Alabama Bill, Mick and Eddie, are visiting accountant Leo Sloukos to conduct a shady business deal. Back at the diner, Kellen tells his ex-wife that the police department is facing a possible strike and that he's overworked due to him organizing the strike. At Leo's office, Leo tells Rudy and his gang that he and attorney Bob Champlain got stiffed on a deal, but they obtained something very valuable. Despite the mention of the valuable artifact, Leo's carelessness and greed do not fare well with Rudy, who kills him and takes off with his gang.On his way back from the diner, Kellen starts to have flashbacks of him at a hospital and a mysterious doctor who tells him "Remember that he killed your father." Kellen is then seen at his psychiatrist's office. His psychiatrist, Dr. Mendel, is concerned about Kellen, who thinks that Kellen's flashbacks are caused by a number of things, including the police strike and his ex-wife's upcoming marriage. Kellen denies that those events are the reasons for his flashbacks. Dr. Mendel tells Kellen that it is time that the truth regarding his father's death be revealed, which Kellen insists on not hearing at the moment.At the local courthouse, civil attorney Sarah Paradis is at a hearing to represent the victims of mind control experiments that occurred many years ago. The mysterious doctor from Kellen's flashbacks, Dr. Gregor Satorius, who is being sued on account of the mind control experiments, shows no remorse for his victims. Sarah tells the judge that the CIA funded Dr. Satorius's clinic, The Coldhaven Institute and paid him to conduct the experiments. The case is then thrown out by the judge. Satorius, knowing that Sarah could destroy everything he's "worked for" and ruin his reputation, confronts Sarah and questions her motives. Sarah tells Satorius to just wait for when the trial takes place.Meanwhile, defense attorney Bob Champlain is about to leave his office for the day and tells his secretary to file his papers and mail something out. He then tries to come on to her by saying that he just received a big "payment" and he will be able to give her a Christmas bonus. She ignores his advances.At the strike meeting, tensions are high as everyone is debating as to whether or not the strike should be carried on. Things get even worse when Kellen makes highly inappropriate and sexist comments towards Sarah and begins to have flashbacks again. This angers Sarah. After the meeting as everyone else is headed home, Kellen notices that Sarah is having problems with her car. Kellen then decides to help her and Kellen apologizes to Sarah for what happened during the meeting. Sarah accepts his apology and offers him a ride home, which Kellen accepts. On their way, Sarah stops by a nearby pharmacy to refill a prescription.At the same time, Bob Champlain is walking inside the same pharmacy to purchase nose spray for his cold. He is unaware that he is being trailed by Rudy and his gang. Just as Sarah is getting her prescription refilled, Rudy and his gang, sporting guns and ski masks hold up the entire pharmacy. Meanwhile, Kellen needs cigarettes and two cops walking by tell him that he is right in front of the pharmacy. Upon walking inside, Kellen intrudes on the robbery and when he is told to stay right where he is, he then starts to have another series of flashbacks. This causes him to go into action and he shoots Bill. Rudy then tells Kellen that he will kill all of the hostages. Kellen allows Rudy and his gang to only take one hostage. They then take a scared Champlain outside to find out where he is hiding a key. Champlain now recognizes Rudy and Rudy reveals to Champlain about Leo's death. Rudy tells Mick to shoot Champlain in the mouth. As Rudy begs for his life and mentions how his key is in his safe and is the only one who can open it, Mick immediately shoots him the mouth. The cops arrive as soon as Kellen discovers the body.The next morning at the police station, Kellen talks to Eugene Borko, his captain, about the robbery and how it was conducted by Rudy and his gang merely just to get to Champlain. Later on, Kellen and his partner, Raolo Basutti go to Champlain's office to ask his secretary for any details regarding the murder. They discover Champlain's safe, which was unlocked the entire time and find a stash of pornography and sex toys. They also discover a complimentary key chain from the sex shop Erotim.At Erotim, Kellen and Raolo visit with the store's gay manager Juley "The Juice", who is also a police informant, and the film's comic relief, to ask about the death of Mr. Champlain. Eddie is also present at the store as well. Kellan and Raolo learn that Bob Champlain was a regular at the store and mentions that a key chain can be obtained when a purchase of $50 or more is made. Juley also mentions to Kellan and Raolo information about Champlain's connection to local mobster Johnny Ronce and that Rudy Myers is from the United States and was indeed responsible for the death of Champlain.Later that night, Kellan and Sarah are at a restaurant on a date. Sarah notices a poster about the CIA taking over Chile and how "your country could be next." She declares to Kellan that she will bury Satorius to the ground if she has to. Afterwards, Kellan and Sarah arrive at the former's home and after settling down for a while, the two have sex, completely unaware that Eddie has been snooping around Kellan's home watching him. After their sex, Kellan mentions to Sarah that he felt an urge to kill during the robbery and tells her about his flashbacks of his days at Coldhaven. Later the next morning, Raolo arrives at Kellan's home with his wife Therese and his son Mario, since it is Raolo's day off as well as Kellan's. After some socializing, Kellan gets a call from Juley the Juice, which puts a halt to their day plan, much to Therese's dismay.At Erotim, Juley tells both Kellan and Raolo more information about Rudy as well as that Johnny Ronce sends any of his men who maybe hurt or injured to a small clinic run by a one Doctor Tom Luk, a former Saigon doctor. Afterwards, Raolo tells Therese that their day is no longer going to be able to go as planned, which enrages Therese as she yells at him for spending little time with his son.Raolo and Kellan go to Dr. Luk's clinic, but they notice that no one is present. As they approach the last room in the clinic, they notice that blood is dripping on the floor. The curtain is opened and it is revealed that Dr. Luk has supposedly committed suicide.At Johnny Ronce's health club, Johnny is relaxing in his hot tub, when a naked Kellan wanders into the hot tub and surprises Johnny. Johnny is surprised to see someone else in his jacuzzi, and his men are about to shoot Kellan, but Raolo steps in to keep control of the situation. Kellan tells Johnny that Dr. Luk is dead and was found hanged in his own clinic. Johnny denies that he knows Dr. Luk, but Kellan knows Johnny is lying and Johnny threatens to report Kellan. Johnny ultimately comes clean to Kellan about his connections to Rudy and Champlain and decides not to report Kellan.Later that night, Kellan and Sarah are at home setting up Christmas decorations. Sarah wants Kellan to testify against Satorius but Kellan is against it, knowing that he will get suspended from the police force if he does, as they do not take a kind approach towards workers with past mental health history. This enrages Sarah, as she throws a box of ornaments on the ground and storms out of Kellan's house.The next morning at the police station, Kellen and Raolo meet with Eugene and FBI Agent Hugh McVeigh. McVeigh mentions that Rudy is connected to the family DelGado which operates out of Miami, Florida and Eugene mentions that Kellan and Raolo no longer need to work on the case any longer, as it is being handed over to the FBI and R.C.M.P.Despite this however, Kellan and Raolo are still determined to solve the case themselves. They go to a bank and Kellan, posing as Bob Champlain, is able to get access to Champlain's safety deposit box, which has an old film reel. Kellan and Raolo's next stop is Erotim, to watch the film inside the store's theatre, much to Juley's dismay. While watching the film, Kellan notices a young Dr. Satorius conducting mind control experiments. One of his patients turns out to be none other than Kellen himself. Raolo becomes aware of Kellan's past at Coldhaven and shows his support for Kellan. They decide to take the film to their captain.This support does not last long however. As Kellan and Raolo are leaving Erotim, Rudy and his gang show up. Kellen notices that they have a gun pointed towards Raolo. Kellan tells Raolo to duck, which causes the car to trigger a car bomb set up by Rudy, killing Raolo in the process and presumably destroying the film as well. Mick searches an unconscious Kellan for the film, but Kellan hits Mick's head with a brick. Rudy and Kellan start shooting at each other and Mick ends up getting left behind as Rudy and Eddie take off. Mick is about to shoot Kellan himself, but Kellan tells him not to. Mick drops his gun, but quickly picks it up before being shot by Kellan. Kellan then goes to Raolo's house to bring the tragic news to Therese and Mario. Mario runs off as even though Kellan had not said anything, both Therese and Mario could tell from the look of Kellan's face that something horrible has happened to Raolo.Kellen is later at the police station, trying to convince Eugene about the film and that what he saw on the film is in fact real. Eugene does not buy it. Sergeant Lachance storms in on behalf of Raolo's death and that Kellan was still on a case he was no longer assigned to. Eugene and Lachance then tell Kellen that he has been under investigation and are aware of his psychological health and flashbacks. Kellen had lied about his medical history. He is then suspended and is required to turn his gun in.Back at his house, Kellen is drying himself off from a shower. He tells Sarah about what he saw on the film and that he is going back to Coldhaven to "get his memory back." Despite Sarah's pleas for him to not go, Kellen tells her to just back off and leave him alone. On his way to Coldhaven, Kellan stops at the apartment of local drug dealer Benny for Acid and L.S.D., presumably to make himself immune to Satorius' mind control treatment, should he use it on Kellan. Kellan is seen taking said drug not long after. Meanwhile, Sarah visits with Dr. Mendel, who tells Sarah that, when Kellan was nine years old, Kellen's father, also a Montréal police officer, had shot an unarmed man and that there was to be an inquiry. Kellen's father then shot himself in the head and that it was a young Kellen that found the body. Kellen, since his days at Coldhaven, had been in a state of denial about his father's death and had believed that his father was killed in the line of duty. Sarah mentions to Dr. Mendel about Satorius' mind control experiments linking L.S.D. with the mind, and Dr. Mendel mentions that whoever did conduct said experiments were totally irresponsible.At Coldhaven, Kellen sneaks into Dr. Satorius' office and logs onto his computer, which reveals a great number of detail about Satorius' former patients, including Kellen himself. At Kellen's home, Eddie, under the impression that Kellen still has the film, has completely trashed the home while prowling around again. Sarah later leaves a message on the machine saying that she found the film, and Eddie leaves the house.When Satorius walks into his office, Kellen confronts Dr. Satorius. Satorius reveals his intentions to Kellen as well as information that he helped Jozsef Cardinal Mindszenty confess his crimes in 1949 by breaking his mental defense. Kellen tells Satorius that he only wants to change people for them to kill. Satorius reveals to Kellan the truth about his father's death. This causes Kellen to nearly kill Satorius by throwing a chair onto the doctor, but Kellen throws it at a mirror instead, which reveals that Rudy and Eddie were listening in on Kellen and Satorius' confrontation the entire time. Kellen is knocked unconcious. Rudy finds out that Satorius had lied to Rudy and did not get rid of any evidence like he was told to and that the world must never know of what really happened at Coldhaven. Rudy, Eddie and Satorius are then seen trying to wipe Kellen's memory clean of what he found out. Because of Satorius' double cross, Satorius himself is also wiped clean of his memory. Rudy and Eddie decide to make it look like Kellen had killed Satorius and then himself. As Eddie is adjusting Kellen, Kellen headbutts Eddie and takes off for Olympic Stadium, where the police strike is taking place. Sarah is present there.At the stadium, after a speech from Therese regarding her husband's death, the strike is made official. Sarah is then kidnapped by Rudy, who threatens to kill her if she tries to call for help. Mario witnesses the kidnapping. Mario then sees Kellen running on his way to save Sarah. Mario tells Kellen about Sarah's kidnapping and they move on to the arena. Mario is later seen alerting the Union Rep. The Rep then calls for anyone who has a gun to go to the arena, where Sarah his being held. At the arena, Rudy is interrogating Sarah about the film, when McVeigh shows up and tries to disarm Rudy and tells Sarah to run. McVeigh tells Rudy that the CIA no longer kills the indiscriminate and Rudy says that Project 47 sprung a leak and it's his job to fix it. McVeigh then tells Rudy his theory about the possibility of other people besides Kellen being seen in the film, quite possibly Lee Harvey Oswald. Eddie then shoots McVeigh and Rudy takes Sarah hostage by gunpoint. Eddie and Rudy notice the number of police arriving into the stadium. Eddie is shot by Kellen and falls to his death. The stadium power is then cut off by orders of the Union Rep and Rudy threatens to kill Sarah if his demands are not met. Kellen then hands the film to Rudy in exchange for Sarah, and Sarah is set free. Rudy is then promptly shot by the police. As Kellen looks upon Rudy's corpse, he starts to have another flashback, but then walks away.Back at Coldhaven, Satorius' computer is still on. The camera moves slowly downward and shows on the screen that Lee Harvey Oswald was one of Satorius' patients and was in fact, accepted into the fifth phase of Satorius's experiments. The building's janitor then walks in and unplugs the computer to plug in his vacuum, wiping out all of Satorius's data. Rudy got his wish posthumously!
