After inventing an anti-gravity device called the Contragrav, scientist Thomas Edmunds and his daughter, Mary, attend the National Air Races in Cleveland, Ohio in search of a pilot to demonstrate the device and Bob Raymond, from the U.S. Border Patrol, is chosen. Unbeknownst to Edmunds and Mary, Mortimor Crome, who is the owner of the International Import and Export Company and a friend of Mary's, is actually the leader of a gang of smuggler's and is after Edmund's invention. During the demonstration at the air meet, Bob Raymond narrowly escapes death after his aircraft is sabotaged by Mortimer Crome and one of his cronies. This leads to Raymond being all-in and coming to Edmunds aid in foiling Crome's plans and ultimately defeating him, using another of Edmund's inventions, which was a superplane, called the Phantom.

G.I. Nick Blake, a never charged con man in his pre-military life, has just received an honorable discharge from the army on medical reasons. Rather than return to his old life, he plans to settle down in New York, his hometown, with his girlfriend Toni Blackburn and the small cache of money he amassed prior to the war: $50,000. When that plan does not pan out, he decides to head to Los Angeles with his con man friend Al Doyle and live it up until he decides on a more permanent course for his life. He is informed by Pop Gruber, an aging mentor doing solely penny-ante street cons now in L.A., of a potential big mark. Doc Ganson, a former con associate, found the mark, lonely widow Gladys Halvorsen worth $2 million, but does not have either the bankroll or the charms to carry out the con on Gladys himself. With Al running interference for him, Nick agrees both to bankroll and carry out the con, he negotiating two-thirds of the take for himself, leaving Doc and his two associates a minimum of $30,000. Although Doc does not like the conditions, he feels he has no choice but to accept the offer as he is desperate for a score to get himself back on his feet. The con is complicated as Nick, using the alias Nick Lloyd, discovers that Gladys is accompanied in Los Angeles by her business manager, Charles Manning, who may be a little more careful than Gladys with her money. Further complications may ensue as Nick is recognized by others who know him as Nick Blake, as Toni comes looking for him to get her own cut in whatever he is doing, and most importantly as Nick and Gladys really do fall for each other. Nick has to decide how to handle the con knowing that a desperate Doc will not let him get away without his negotiated share, a violent Doc who may use harder tactics if he knows that Nick is wanting a life with Gladys and her $2 million.—Huggo

Alfred Green directs this story from the 1930s, starring Bette Davis and Douglas Fairbanks. "Alabama" meets Bill (Fairbanks) and Toodles (McHugh), and moves in. They are all looking for work. Unfortunately, they meet up with a no-good gangster (Leo Carrillo), who victimizes the three friends who are trying to get legitimate employment. and unfortunately, Davis' accent also comes and goes. we watch their ups and downs during the depression. Bill goes goes to work as a chauffeur, but the boss (Claire Dodd) seems to want more than a driver. and then it really hits the fan. Early roles for the cast. Talkies had only been around a couple years, and the film code was still pretty loose at this point, so they don't have to beat around the bush. Then Bill goes to work for the gangster, first as a chauffeur. Davis and McHugh are just along as sidekicks, for a laugh. Bill wants to do the right thing, but wants to make enough money to take care of Alabama. and then Alabama goes to work for the gangster. Bill and Toodles fly into Canada to pick up a load of hooch for the boss, and run into trouble on the way back across the border. the guys think it's just hijackers, and their pot shots knock the U.S. Border Patrol planes to the ground. When there's a big showdown at the 51 Club, Bill gets wise that his boss isn't such a good boss, and he's next in line to take the fall. When Weber demands they fly drugs one last time, they decide to turn the tables on him, and finally manage to escape the mob boss. Some great mountain scenery of southern California, as the planes fly around.

Four outlaws come to New Jerusalem, a town full of courteous and religious people, to rob the bank. After shooting the president of the bank, only three make it out of town followed by the posse. By the time they get to the second desert water hole, they find it dry and also find a wagon with a dying mother and baby. When the horses are dead the next morning, the three outlaws have no choice but to try to walk back to New Jerusalem and only two want to take the baby.

Ambrose Wolfinger wants the afternoon off (his first in twenty-five years) to go to a wrestling match. He tells his boss that he must attend his mother-in-law's funeral. The afternoon is no joy. He tries to please a policeman, assist a chauffeur, chase a tire, and ends up getting hit by the body of a wrestler thrown from the ring. A series of mishaps leads his boss to send floral tributes to the house and notify the papers of the death (due to poisoned liquor). His shrewish wife, judgmental mother-in-law, and good-for-nothing brother-in-law add to his burdens. In the end he enjoys their fawning loyalty, a raise in pay, and his first vacation.

Wyatt Earp and his brothers Morgan and Virgil ride into Tombstone and leave brother James in charge of their cattle herd. On their return they find their cattle stolen and James dead. He soon runs into the brooding, coughing, hard-drinking Doc Holliday as well as the sullen and vicious Clanton clan.
