The Governor of Tokyo, Yuichiro Asakura, receives a threatening letter the day before the opening of Touto Line, a new train line for the Tokyo Metropolitan Subway. During the opening ceremony of the line, Conan Edogawa and the Detective Boys are driven by Professor Agasa and pass under the Touto Line. Conan, having heard about the threatening letter, notices explosives connected to the rails. Using his original voice to inform the police as Shinichi Kudo, he is able to stop the train and divert traffic away from the explosives, preventing any deaths.Conan researches Asakura's political history for a clue on the culprit and learns that the governor was in charge of the construction of a dam in Kitanosawa, a town in the Niigata Prefecture. Due to the dam's construction, the citizens of Kitanosawa were forced into a new town and their old homes were submerged underwater. Since Asakura's trip to celebrate the anniversary of the dam is canceled by the bombing, Conan speculates information on the bomber could be found in Kitanosawa and plans a trip there.Conan, the Detective Boys, Ran Mouri, Kogoro Mouri, and Sonoko Suzuki travel to Kitanosawa and enjoy the day playing. They are introduced to a group of locals; their names are Keisuke Yamao, Mizuki Tono, Fuyumi Tachihara, Takehiki Muto, and Shogo Hikawa. The group reveals they were all childhood friends and were part of the group which relocated to the new village. They also reveal its their first gathering in eight years since Yamao was in prison for killing Tono's younger sister, Natsuki Tono, in a hit and run.The next day, Tachihara's son, Touma Tachihara, awakens from his eight year coma with no memory of his accident. Later that day, Hikawa is found dead in a field. It is assumed to be suicide since only Hikawa's footprints were found in the snow. Conan reveals Hikawa was killed by an electroshock weapon. The culprit then waited for it to snow and walked away backwards to suggest Hikawa was alone. During a diamond dust caused by the sunrise, Touma experiences a flashback to the day of the accident.Conan investigates Hikawa's belongings and finds a newspaper clipping detailing a jewelry store robbery dated the day before the hit and run. A cell site is destroyed by bombs leading Conan to hypothesize the culprit's identity. Meanwhile, the Detective Boys and Touma are hunted down by a sniper.Conan and Haibara ride a snowboard to the kids' location, attracting the attention of the sniper. In order to avoid being seen by the sniper, the Detective Boys and Touma hide in a cave. They head deeper into the cave, which led to a shortcut to the dam. Here Conan explained the culprit's identity.Conan intervenes and leads them to safety. Taking a route towards the dam, Conan explains Keisuke Yamao is the culprit. Yamao robbed the jewelry store in a distant town and drove back to Kitanosawa. On the way, he ran over Natsuki, a scene which Touma witnessed. Touma is then kidnapped by Yamao and sees the diamonds, explaining why the diamond dust startled his memories. Touma escaped but fell down a cliff leading to his coma. Yamao then buries the jewels in a property in Kitanosawa and turns himself over to the authorities for Natsuki's death. Unexpectedly, the dam project forced the town of Kitanosawa underwater. As a result, Yamao decides to bomb the dam to search old-Kitanosawa for the diamonds. In order to have enough time to perform the search, he had to cancel the Governor's trip and destroy the cell phone towers to prevent the outside world from learning of the dam's destruction.Upon arriving at the dam, Conan is pursued by Yamao who tortures him and intend es to silence him. Yamao is then shot and incapacitated by Mizuki. Touma regains his memories of the accident upon seeing Mizuki and reveals he saw Mizuki push Natsuki off into the road during an argument. Mizuki professes she was the sniper attempting to shoot at Touma, in order to prevent him from remembering, and that the death of her sister was an accident. Yamao, having set off the bombs in the dam, forces them to flee. Conan diverges from the group intending to start an avalanche by creating grooves in a steep mountain with his motorized snowboard to divert the flow away from Kitanosawa. He is successful but his motor short-circuits causing him to be caught in the avalanche.He is eventually rescued when Ran calls Shinichi's cellphone causing him to regain consciousness. He alerts the others of his position by deploying a soccer ball from his belt. In the aftermath the jewels are recovered, Yamao is arrested and Mizuki turns herself in for what she did to her sister.

"Coronation" (2020) is a documentary film about the lockdown in Wuhan, China, during the Covid-19 outbreak in the spring of 2020.
On December 1, 2019, the first patient with Covid-19 symptoms was identified in Wuhan. Chinese officials repeatedly denied that human-to-human transmission was possible, concealed the number of diagnosed patients, and punished medical staff for disclosing information about the epidemic. On January 23, 2020, Wuhan was placed under a city-wide lockdown. Covid-19 has become a global pandemic, with over 22 million people infected and over 780,000 deaths.
"Coronation" examines the political specter of Chinese state control from the first to the last day of the Wuhan lockdown. The film records the state's brutally efficient, militarized response to control the virus. Sprawling emergency field hospitals were erected in a matter of days, 40,000 medical workers were bused in from all over China, and the city's residents were sealed into their homes.
The film takes us into the heart of these temporary hospitals and ICU wards, showing the entire process of diagnosis and treatment. Patients and their families are interviewed, reflecting their thinking about the pandemic and expressing anger and confusion over the state's callous restriction of their liberties. The film also takes us into the private lives of individuals living under the lockdown: a couple attempt to return to their home in Wuhan, a courier delivers essentials to res- idents barred from leaving their community, an emergency construction worker stuck in limbo is forced to live out of his car1, a former party cadre and her son debate the function of the media and the party's response to the outbreak, a grieving son navigates the bureaucracy of retrieving his father's ashes.
China has assumed the status of superpower on the global stage, yet it remains poorly understood by other nations. Through the lens of the pandemic, "Coronation" clearly depicts the Chinese crisis management and social control machine-through surveillance, ideological brainwashing, and brute determination to control every aspect of society. The film shows the changes that took place in a city and in individual space under the impact of the virus; it illustrates the value of individual life in the political environment, reflecting on the difficulties we face as individuals and countries in the context of globalization. Ultimately, the result is a society lacking trust, transparency, and respect for humanity. Despite the impressive scale and speed of the Wuhan lockdown, we face a more existential question: can civilization survive without humanity? Can nations rely on one another without transparency or trust?
Ai Weiwei remotely directed and produced the film from Europe. The filming was done by ordinary citizens living in Wuhan.
